The Department of Zoology, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women celebrated the National Science Day 2024 to create awareness and encourage students to engage in scientific activities.
The event was celebrated by organizing Inter Class ‘Clay Modelling’ and ‘Illustration’ competitions for First year and second year students. Students across the streams enthusiastically participated in the above events. The winners of the clay modelling competition were Anjelia Gomes (1st Place), Adonia Pereira (2nd place) and Astrid Lobo (3rd Place). The winners of the Illustration competition were Mackvita Afonso (1st) and Treena Monteiro (2nd place). The winners were awarded trophy/prizes and certificates on 28th February 2024.
In continuation of this celebration, various displays and demonstrations were held on 6th March 2024. This included blood typing experiment, blood pressure check-up, Parasitology charts and models. Spot prizes were given for identifying the call of common birds. The National history museum was kept open throughout the program.
