A Blood Donation camp was organized by the Commerce Department and the NSS unit of Carmel College for Women Nuvem, in collaboration with the GMC, Rotary Club midtown Margao and the Jaycees Club of India (JCI) Fatorda.
A team of Doctors and Nurses from GMC conducted the blood donation activity in a quick and efficient manner. After the process of eligibility testing, 44 volunteers donated blood. Donors also included 1 teaching faculty and 1 office administrative staff. Some were rejected due to various reasons like less weight, anemia, intake of medication and periods. Mr Nilesh Lolienkar, President of Rotary Club Margao midtown was quite impressed with the high number of female donors who showed greater spirit and courage compared to male donors elsewhere where such camps have been held. He encouraged students to donate their blood donation cards to the pool created by Rotary Club Margao Midtown for use by the needy.
