To give a field experience of the course, twenty-eight students studying Retail Management Strategies in the T.Y.BCom Management (Honors) Course, were taken for a field trip on 7th October 2023 to four different retail outlets located at Margao and Porvorim. Students visited the following four retail outlets:
- Trimart in Gogol which sells fast-moving consumer goods.
- Croma and Reliance Digital in Porvorim deal in all types of electronic goods and
- Zudio retails apparel and cosmetics for all age groups. Ms Manju T.K, Assistant Professor in Commerce, accompanied the students on the trip.
This field trip was intended to expose students to the real retail world by connecting various topics in their syllabus. All the students observed the retail outlets from the theoretical perspective to the practical aspects of location and layout, marketing mix, customer service, customer loyalty, handling customer complaints and grievances, logistics management, etc. They even tried to identify hotspots of these retail outlets.
Students were amazed to see different retail outlets with various product mixes. They also identified the customer profile of retail shoppers and compared the differences between retail outlets. Overall, the field trip was very fruitful and a memorable experience for the students and the faculty.
