The Department of Commerce of Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women Nuvem, Goa organised an educational field trip on the 19th of August 2023 at NV Eco Farm located at Dabal for the students of T.Y.B.COM. A total of 67 students accompanied by 4 faculty members- Head of Department, Ms. Sajani Dcosta, Associate Prof. Gladys D’Souza, Associate Professor Audhoot Satardekar and Assistant Prof. Blanche V. Vaz attended the field trip. 

The main objectives of the field trip were:

  1. To explore sustainable farming practices, biodiversity and environmental stewardship.
  2. To engage students in hands-on learning about organic cultivation and the importance of conserving natural resources.
  3. To understand the commercial viability of an Eco-tourism venture

The students and faculty members left the college premises at 9:00 a.m. by bus and reached the farm at 10:30 a.m.  Upon arrival, the students were greeted with an introductory session and a comprehensive tour of the farm’s facilities. The tour encompassed a diverse range of topics including agriculture, horticulture, vegetable and spice cultivation, plantation crops and the various aspects of the farm related to tourism. Throughout the tour, the students were provided with valuable insights into contemporary agricultural practices, water conservation techniques, multilayer cropping systems, biogas generation methods, and the intricacies of organic farming practices through their visit to the NV Eco Farm Dabal, the students could observe how sustainable practices can be integrated into the tourism sector, contributing to both ecological preservation and economic growth

The field trip was an insightful and enjoyable experience for the students as it provided practical exposure to organic farming practices. Students gained insights into how these methods contribute to conserving natural resources and promoting ecological sustainability.

The students and faculty members returned to the college premises at 5:00 p.m.
