Ms. Mariette Valsan, model, actor and activist, spoke to the students and staff of Carmel College for Women, Nuvem, Goa via Google Meet – on the sidelines of her shoot in Munnar – on 26th October 2020. The event was conceptualized by the Department of English, Carmel College, ably steered by Ms. Roxana Singh, Head of Department. Officiating Principal, Dr. Aldina Braganza welcomed Ms. Mariette, and referred to her as ‘the voice of change that India needs.’ Ms. Mariette covered a wide range of topics which included image formation; perception of models; women and patriarchy; and colourism in the ad industry. The talk was followed by a Q &A session. Dr. Brian Mendonca of the Department of English, anchored the online meet and proposed the vote of thanks.
