Staff and students of the Department of English of Carmel college of Arts, Science and Commerce participated in the annual Goa Arts and Literary festival 2018 at International Centre, Goa from 6-8th December 2018. Two buses were arranged by the Principal Dr. Sr. Aradhana A.C. to take the students to the festival and back. A total of 73 students across streams were escorted by Ms. Ashwini Kumar, Faculty, to the festival on 7th December. Dr. Brian Mendonca, Faculty, engaged the author Sophia Benjamin in conversation at the release of her book Claudia in the Zuari hall of GALF on 7th December. Dr. Glenis Mendonca, Faculty, was present at GALF for the release on 8th December of the book The Brave New World of Goan Writing 2018: An Anthology of Literary Essays, Short Stories, Memoirs, Letters, Poetry which features her essay on the Konkani short story. The essay was short-listed for the JRLJ Best in Non-fiction 2018 award. The students had a good learning experience at GALF and enjoyed the vibrant sessions, book launches, art exhibitions and book displays.
