A one day State Level seminar on “IPR- Emerging Trends, Challenges & Implementation” was organized by IQAC and Department of Chemistry of Carmel College, Nuvem on 3 rd October 2018, at the college auditorium
The highlight of the seminar was the eminent speakers from the education sector and Legal organizations who shared their knowledge and experiences with the participants and students in their respective sessions.
The inaugural session began with the prayer and lighting of lamp by Dr. (Sr.) Aradhana A.C, Principal, Carmel College, Dr. Gopakumar, Librarian, Goa University, Ms. Sajani D’Costa, Co-ordinator IQAC, Ms. Cheryl Alvares, HOD, Department of Chemistry and Mr. Jeffrey Viegas, Convener of the Seminar.
Dr. (Sr.) Aradhana A.C welcomed the participants and gave a brief Introduction of the seminar.
In the first session Adv. Shirley Sousa highlighted on the topic “The significance of Copyrights and the issue of Infringement.” She introduced the audience with the terms involved in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and emphasized on copyrights.
Dr. Gopakumar V. expressed his views on “Ethics in Academic writing and Plagiarism”. He explained the need for citation and its utmost requirement in the process of Scholarly Writing. He also discussed on the Referencing Styles and explained the ways of writing bibliographical entries. The inputs and feedback during the session served as a good learning experience for conducting research and writing of research article.
The third session on the topic “IP commercialization and its Challenges” was delivered by renowned IP Attorney, Adv. Shalini Menezes. She guided the participants on patents and the methods adopted for its commercialization.
The seminar was concluded with overall Vote of Thanks by Ms. Roxana A. Singh, Executive member of IQAC.
