The Consumer Welfare Cell of Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem in association with GOACAN organized a Road Safety Awareness Action during the 11th State Road Safety Week. The awareness drive was conducted on the 13th of October 2022 in front of the Carmel College gate between 8.15am to 9.15am. The awareness programme intended to instill the importance of wearing ISI marked helmets and seat belts while driving motor vehicles. Pedestrians were also cautioned to use the Zebra crossing during the awareness programme. The response from vehicle owners, scooter riders was commendable in spite of the traffic on account of office goers heading to work and market bound travellers. The programme ended with the student volunteers of the Consumer Welfare Cell of Carmel College taking a pledge to be responsible citizens on the road. 120 students, 3 faculty members, officials from the traffic cell of the police department and members of GOACAN were present during the awareness campaign.
It was very encouraging to see college students enthusiastically conscientizing vehicle riders and pedestrians about the road safety norms and doing their bit towards making the village of Nuvem a safe village for all travellers.
