Students from Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women were invited to attend the 8th International Conference on Information and Communications Technology for Sustainable Development (ICT4SD). The conference was organized by GR Foundation at Vivanta by Taj, Panaji, Goa on 3rd August 2023. Dr. Solley Thomas, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology, who was invited to chair the technical session of the conference, accompanied the students. A total of 20 students (students of B. Sc Mathematics & Computer Science major and 13 students from B. Com) attended the conference.
The Dignitaries were called up on the dais for the lighting of the lamp. Followed by Dr. Amit Joshi introducing the keynote speaker, Dr. Dalia A.M. Hassan (Vice-Dean School of Computer Science CIC- Canadian International College, Egypt) and guests.
Mr. Aninda Bose welcomed the gathering and did the theme address. Dr. Dalia A.M. Hassan addressed the gathering, followed by Mr. Shrinivas Dempo welcoming everyone to Goa which is the land of sun, sand, sea and startup.
Dr. Milan Tuba (Head-Artificial Intelligence Project, Singidunum University and Vice-Rector of Research at Sinergija University, Serbia), the Inaugural Guest spoke on the benefits of AI and on the use of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for future needs instead of EV’s. Dr. Nilanjan Dey, Invited Guest; spoke on Deep Learning, challenges in Medical surgery and Image Segmentation. The closing remarks of the inaugural ceremony were done by Dr. Amit Joshi.
The mathematic major student along with the B.Com attended the technical session, which consisted of paper presentations on various topics like 5G Mobile Systems, Machine Learning- Based Detection of IoT Cyberattacks, Deep Learning Model for Video Anomaly Detection Based Surveillance, Multimodal Face Anti-Spoofing in Multilayer Environment Verifiable Image Licensing Approaches, Quantum Blockchain Based Consensus for Mechanism Approaches and Polygraph, System for False News Detection. Dr. Solley Thomas chaired the technical session.
Overall, there was a lot of information intake on the above-mentioned papers. Topics such as CNN and LSTM models, Blockchain Technologies, VILS model, Conv-MLP, Quantum Algorithms, IoT and 5G and 4G Security Comparisons etc. were interesting and well taken by the students.
On the whole, the students gained insights on the latest technological developments and the overall experience was exhilarating.
