The Department of Commerce of Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Nuvem- Goa, organized a One-Day State Level Workshop on the NEP Syllabus of Multidisciplinary Courses in Commerce with approval from the Board of Studies, Goa University. The workshop was held on the 22nd of July 2023 from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm in the college auditorium.
The National Education Policy 2020 has been introduced for F.Y.B.Com for the first time by Goa University in the academic year 2023-2024. Hence, the Department of Commerce felt a need to conduct a workshop for uniformity in teaching. Ms. Nicole Marie Coutinho was the Coordinator of the Workshop. Ms Blanche Vailankani Vaz was the Co-Cordininator.
The workshop was for the following courses introduced in Semester I:
COM-131 Accounting for Non-Accountants
COM-132 Fundamentals of Stock Market and
COM-133 Marketing for Beginners
Dr Rajesh Amonkar, Vice-Principal and Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim-Goa, was the Resource Person for the workshop for COM-133 Marketing for Beginners.
Dr Brahma Edwin Barreto, Vice-Principal and Associate Professor, Department of Commerce & Management, VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao Goa, was the Resource Person for the workshop on the subject of COM-131 Accounting for Non-Accountants.
Dr Anson Leopold Albuquerque, Assistant Professor in Commerce at Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Nuvem Goa, presently on deputation as Training, Internship and Placement (TIP) Co-ordinator, TIP Cell, Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC) Directorate of Higher Education, Porvorim-Goa was the resource person for the workshop on the subject of COM-132 Fundamentals of Stock Market.
Registration for the seminar began at 9.30 am, followed by the Inaugural Function at 10.00 am. The session started with a prayer offered by Ms. Nicole Marie Coutinho followed by the address of the Principal of Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Dr Sr. Maria Lizanne A.C. Assistant Professor Ms Blanche Vailankanni Vaz introduced the resource persons and Assistant Professor Ms Yakshita Kiran Vengurlekar presented the Resource Persons with a memento. The Head of the Department of Commerce, Ms. Sajani D’Costa proposed the vote of thanks.
After the tea break, the faculty members were grouped into the subjects they were teaching. The resource persons of the respective courses guided the discussions in their groups. The recommended reference books for each course, and the QR Code for the feedback form was provided to all groups.
A report of the recommendations was prepared for each Multidisciplinary Course . The report will be sent to the Board of Studies for its approval.
After lunch, the certificates were distributed to the participants.
A positive feedback was received from the participants of the workshop.
