Topic “Responsible Behavior Towards A Green Society: An Innovative Approach

The Department of Commerce of Carmel College for Women, Nuvem organized a one day national level students seminar on the topic “Responsible Behavior towards a Green Society: An Innovative Approach” on 11 th  January, 2020 in the college auditorium. The objectives of the seminar were:

  • To generate innovative eco-friendly ideas
  • To make these ideas practical and sustainable
  • To demonstrate how the student community, as youth, can individually contribute towards a greener society

Since the target audience were students from different colleges and higher secondaries in and outside the State, a simple visual form of presentation of ideas was chosen as students are familiar with and more comfortable with this medium of communication. In addition it was expected to generate more responses and reach out the message to more youth. .  The seminar also attempted to make the youth realize that they have the individual as well as collective responsibility and power to contribute towards a greener society as a student community. This event also sought to drive in the point and reinforce the fact that youth can be great contributors towards making a greener society because they will be key stakeholders in the future.

The seminar was divided into two categories. The first category which consisted of all the college level teams and the latter category which consisted of the higher secondary level, both teams were allotted the same topic to make a PowerPoint presentation. The judges for the competition were eminent personalities who are experts in the field of environment, Dr. Manoj Borkar, Carmel College for Women, Nuvem and Dr. Gulab Borkar.

A total of 12 teams from within and outside Goa registered for the College Category and a total of 8 teams registered under the Higher Secondary Category. The competition started with the College Category followed by the Higher Secondary Category. Participating teams gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the latest innovative ideas, concepts, technologies that could be adopted by individuals, organizations and government in the most sustainable manner to make our planet a greener one and a peaceful one to live upon.
