On the occasion of National Science Day, the Department of Zoology of Carmel College, Nuvem organized a talk andscreened wildlife documentaries. The Natural History Museumwas also open to visitors on the occasion.
Dr Manoj Borkar, head of the Zoology Department, delivereda popular talk on ‘How relevant is Biology in our lives’, wherehe touched upon applications of biology in our everyday lives,parallel between human and animal behavior and the synergy ofbiology, physics, chemistry and mathematics in trans-disciplinarystudies. The talk was attended by students and faculty members.
Wildlife documentaries were screened on the theme, ‘Seeing theworld upside down- fascinating life of bats’ and ‘Ballerinas of thesea- Marine mammals’. The screening concluded with interactivesessions conducted by senior Zoology students aimed at discussing current threats, issues. Students were also taken to seethe exhibits in the Natural History Museum of the College. Principal Dr Sr Maria Lizanne, also a senior faculty of zoology, presidedover the day’s celebration.
