To commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, the departments of Botany and Zoology of Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem – Goa, in association with The Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa, Porvorim – Goa, organized a talk on ‘Contribution of Indian Scientists in Struggle for Independence’ by a well-known personality in the academic field, Retd. Prof. Suhas Godse on 13th August 2022 in the auditorium of Carmel College, Nuvem. … students of B.Sc. and faculty attended the talk.
In his talk Prof. Godse recalled the struggle of our freedom fighters which finally led to India becoming free from the British colonial rule in 1947.
Prof. Godse highlighted the role of pioneers including Sir J.C. Bose, Acharya P.C. Ray, Sir, C.V. Raman, Dr. Mahendralal Sircar and others. Vision of self-reliance during colonial times encouraged Indian scientists and patriots to establish their own scientific institutions and industries.
Indian scientists have played a significant role in the Indian freedom movement by not only contributing through their meticulous works in science and technology but also helping our great leaders and visionaries to make India self-sustainable.
