The Postgraduate (Co-ed) Department of Food Technology, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Nuvem, organised a 2-day HACCP – ISO 22000: 2018 Certification Session in collaboration with Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC), FSSAI, and Quality
India, for the current and ex-students of the M.Sc. Food Technology programme. Mr. Hamad Shaikh, an FSSAI-deputed FoSTac trainer and Certified Lead Auditor in HACCP, ISO 22000, and GMP, conducted the training for the students. A total of 43 students and three staff members attended the session on two designated days: 15th and 16th September, 2023. The institution is the first in the state to hold large-scale training for students in this field. This certificate training program was organised to enhance job opportunities for students of the department, as the knowledge of HACCP and principles of ISO 22000 is relevant to getting jobs in reputed companies. The training consisted of lectures, group activities, hands-on HACCP chart preparation and open discussions, followed by an MCQ-based certification examination. All the participants were reported to have successfully cleared their examination, therefore qualifying as HACCP Level-3 and ISO 22000: 2018 Certified.
