On 22nd August, 2018 Dr Manoj Borkar was invited by Rotary Club of Margao (Midtown) to address the Rotarians. Dr Borkar spoke on the topic ‘ The vanishing croak in our backyard: Do frogs really matter?’. Dr Borkar spoke on the diversity of frog species in Goa, loss of frog habitats due to urbanisation, pesticides and climate change. He highlighted the case of Indian Bull Frog and spoke at length on its conservation status, legal provisions for prosecution of offenders, and its ecological importance vis a vis rise in vector borne diseases in Goa. The talk was followed by an interactive session.
