On the occasion of 75 years of India’s independence (Aazadi Ka Amurit Mahotsav) and the ongoing Fit India program, the NSS unit of Carmel College, Nuvem organised a free eye check- up on 14th November 2021 at the Nuvem Panchayat Hall from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm. 

The Camp was organized in association with:

  • Goa Panchayat Mahila Shakti Abihyan
  • Lions Club of Nuvem -Verna & Lions Club of Canacona
  • Matoshree Sevadham Arogya Seva Trust & Medical Research Centre


Doctors and Medical staff examined the villagers & prescribed lenses to those who participated in the camp. In addition to an eye check- up, spectacles worth Rs.2000/- were given to the people at a subsidised rate of Rs.160/-  as a token amount for the spectacles. At the same camp, people were also checked for diabetes as a follow up or sequel to the earlier diabetes camp held on

 24th October 2021. Around 120 persons benefited from the program.
