The Environment Protection Club and NSS Unit of Carmel College in association with Global E-Waste Management System (GEMS) and CAM Industrial Services conducted an e-waste collection drive at the college campus. The collection was held on 27th and 28th July, 2023. Students and staff collected the e-waste from their homes and neighbourhood and got it for safe disposal at the college campus on the designated days. Students numbering 127, including NSS volunteers got different types of electronic waste for disposal. The team of workers from Global E-Waste Management System which is a company authorized by the Government of Goa for e-waste collection and disposal segregated the different types of e-waste, weighed and prepared a list of e-waste items collected. The Form 6 of the e-waste manifest was handed over to the college. The e-waste collected amounted to 141 kg. The college received an amount of Rs. 2100/- from the company as proceeds of the e-waste.
E-Waste collection, management and safe disposal is one of the best practices of the college. The collection drive is held in the college campus on a bi-monthly basis.
