The Department of Zoology and the NSS Unit of Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for women in collaboration with WWF- Goa and Saahaas organized an awareness session on Waste Management and Circular Economy on 19th March, 2024. The session was attended by 65 students and NSS volunteers. Lisha Dcosta, Programme Officer, WWF-Goa spoke on the mandate of WWF and the importance of such events involving youth. She introduced the audience to the idea of circular economy and the role waste management takes in conservation of biodiversity. Mr Gaurav Chauhan and Ms Riya Rajan Raul of the Saahaas NGO spoke on waste segregation, its significance and ultimate outcomes achieved through it. They enlightened the student with four groups of waste segregation through an activity. The speakers highlighted the need to switch to a circular economy and our role in waste segregation.
