The Department of Zoology, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women invited Dr. I. K. Pai, Former Professor and Head, Department of Zoology, Goa University to deliver a talk on Saturday, the 23rd of April 2022 at 11.30 am. The event hosted by Ms. Karen Braganza, Assistant Professor, commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, Dr. Sr. Maria Lizanne A. C.
Dr. I. K. Pai spoke on ‘Fauna of Extreme regions with special reference to Antarctica’ discussing his study being part of an Antarctic expedition. The audience for the event were Third Year Zoology and Wildlife and EcoTourism Course students. Dr. Pai gave a very riveting talk on importance of the polar regions, its crucial role in understanding climate change and various ecological systems at play in the minus temperatures. The talk ended with an overwhelming Q&A session and good interactions. Dr. I K Pai was felicitated with a memento for his contributions in the field of Zoology at the hands of Principal, Dr. Sr. Maria Lizanne A. C. and Dr. Manoj R. Borkar, Head, Zoology Department. The session ended with a vote of thanks presented by Mrs. Vinita D’Sa, Senior Faculty, Department of Zoology.
