A week-long series of events were conducted in the month of December to raise awareness and encourage participation towards blood donation. This included a Digital Poster Making Contest, Slogan Writing and Sloganeering Competition. A digital display of the same was made at the venue on the day of the blood donation drive. The contests were organised by Ms. Sumathi Satardekar who was assisted by Dr. Lata Shirodkar and Mr. Meetal Raikar.

Blood Donation Camp – Carmel Leads the Way for Service to Society
A need-based blood donation drive was organised due to the reported shortage of blood in Goa at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The drive was organised on 14th December 2021 in Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Nuvem Goa. Dr. Rego, responsible for blood collection in South Goa, reported that there was a need for blood due to the rising cases of accidents, cancer and so on. A team of doctors and nurses, led by Dr. Ravi Rego carried out the blood donation program. 90 students and staff registered for blood donation from which 39 people were eligible to donate blood. This program was organised by the NSS unit and the Women’s Cell of Carmel College in association with Lions Club Nuvem, Verna and the Hospicio Hospital, Margao.
Lion’s Club President Mr. Suresh Pai, Zone Chairman of Lion’s Club, Dr. Dilip Vernekar, Coordinator for Lion’s Club Mr. Francisco Da Costa, were part of the program.
A Certificate of Appreciation was given by the Hospicio Hospital Blood Bank (Directorate of Health Services, Government of Goa) to the NSS unit of Carmel College, the initiators of the blood donation drive.
