The NSS Unit, Carmel College for Women organized a Webinar on the theme, ‘Yoga Benefits in Times of Pandemic’, on 20th June 2020, with the main objective of guiding and motivating NSS volunteers and other students to start Yoga in their homes and practice Yoga daily for healthy living. The presentation and demonstration was by Mr. Deepak Premanand Sangodkar, member of Ambika Yog Kutir and Professional Yoga Trainer, who teaches Yoga techniques and practices for promoting health and well-being – a service to humanity which he renders free of charge. Mr. Sangodkar dwelt on the benefits of Yoga particularly in the current stressful times of COVID-19 and demonstrated various asanas to faculty and students who participated in the online session.

On the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrated on 21st June, students of the College enthusiastically involved their family members too, in the performance of Asanas and posted pictures and videos to motivate others to start the practice of Yoga. Keeping in mind this year’s IDY theme –yoga@home and yoga with family, the NSS volunteers of the College played a role in getting family members introduced to the world of Yoga and informing them of its long term benefits on health and well-being.
