Many of the NSS students of Carmel College for Women have been utilizing their skills, time and talents for a noble cause during the COVID-19 Pandemic, by making short videos to create awareness, stitching face masks for family members and others in their neighborhood as well as sending informative messages using social media platforms. A large number of volunteers, under the guidance of the College NSS Programme Officers, have downloaded the Aarogya Sethu app and have registered on the Integrated Government Online Training (iGOT) portal for Covid related training and are motivating others to do so too, on a regular basis.  They have further shared the knowledge obtained on the training portal, for instance on making of face masks, to many others. The POs are instructing and guiding 626 volunteer through their class representatives from each class on a WhatsApp group.

As of 3 rd  May, 2020, a total of 1051 face masks were stitched by the different student volunteers of the College and distributed to various people and groups needing them including local Panchayats, workers at vegetable and grocery stores and others in the different villages of Salcete Taluka.

Awareness videos put together by the students have been widely circulated.  Class FYBSc students of both A and B divisions put together a short motivational video giving a message to stay positive during the lockdown. This was done by them without getting together or meeting each other but using technology to connect from their respective homes. Another video on coronavirus prevention made by Jasmine Fernandes of SYBCom was widely circulated among students and their friends.  Through such involvement, NSS volunteers are playing an active role as social warriors in the fight against the coronavirus.
