The Department of Economics organised a study tour to Mangalore-Coorg from 5 th to 8 th October 2019 for the students of TYBA Economics who were accompanied by the faculty members of the department. The objective of the tour was to give an exposure to the students of the rich cultural heritage that our country holds.
Coorg, a destination known for its picturesque beauty, breath-taking views surrounded by coffee estates and spice plantations, gave our students an understanding of its rich biodiversity and the tourism sector which plays an important role in our Indian economy. The places visited were coffee plantations, Nisargadhama- bamboo forest, Dhubare elephant forest, river rafting in Cauvery, scenic Raja’s seat, and the tomb, Namdroling Buddhist monastery- largest teaching center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world, shopping in the local market for spices etc. The tour provided a gainful experience to the students and the faculty.
