The Department of English, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, Goa organized the Orator of Carmel competition in the college auditorium on 18 September 2019. The competition provides a platform to budding orators in the college to showcase their speaking skills.
The students were given a variety of topics that reflected contemporary trends and issues. The judges for the competition were Mr. Robert Dourado, Ms. Deepa Prajith and Mr. Fernando Monte De Silva.
Fourteen participants vied for the coveted rolling trophy which was instituted by Dr. Gerry Rodricks in 1978. Ms. Alvina Almeida (TYBSC) was declared as the winner of the Orator Competition 2019. Ms. Tabitha Fernandes (FYBA) bagged the title of first runner-up and Ms. Khushi Powar (FYBA) was the second runner-up. Andrea Fernandes(TYBA) was the compere and Inoshka Moraes (TYBA) gave the vote of thanks.
