The Department of Zoology, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women celebrated the Global Tiger Day, 2023 in collaboration with Goa State Biodiversity Board to underpin the importance of tiger conservation. The event was celebrated by organizing various competitions such as Bookmark Competition, Mandala Art Competition and Elocution Competition. Students across the streams enthusiastically participated in the event on 29th July 2023. On this occasion, Dr. Manoj R. Borkar, gave a presentation on ‘‘The fading roar of Indian Forests’. The talk was attended by students, ex-students and faculty. A total of 25 entries were received for the Bookmark competition, 25 entries for the Mandala Art Competition and 9 candidates expressed their opinions on ‘Why Goa should have a tiger reserve?’ Prizes and certificates were distributed at the end of the event. A total of 128 students participated in the event. An impressive e-brochure was designed and circulated on the scope of the day and various events organized. The faculty of the department actively and enthusiastically supported the event.
