‘Van Mahotsav’ the festival of trees is celebrated annually in the first week of July to create enthusiasm among the people towards forest conservation and planting trees. On this occasion the Department of Botany organised a slogan competition for the students, where in the students had to submit a photograph of themselves planting a tree sapling along with a slogan. Out of the 12 entries received, Miss Maliffa Carvalho of T. Y. B.Sc. won the first prize and Miss Sneha Fernandes of S. Y. B.Sc. bagged the second prize. The department also organised a plant exhibition of some rare and endemic species of the Western Ghats and some medicinal plants. A total of 210 students visited the exhibition.
