Opinion Poll Day popularly known as Goem Asmitai Dis or Goan Identity Day was commemorated on 17th January 2023 by the Department of History, Carmel College. The event which commenced at 9 am and concluded by 12.30 pm, saw a variety of events that enthralled the students and faculty of the college. The items included a cultural programme which showcased Goan culture ranging from the Mando, Goan themed fancy dress, fashion show, Goan folk dance, and a Konkani comedy skit. The canteen with an array of mouth watering dishes and drinks well suited the theme. Students helped themselves generously at the various counters, to the beat of Goan Konkani music.

The Chief Guest for the day was Principal Dr. Sr. Maria Lizanne AC, while the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms Swen Vaz of TYBA.

It was indeed an overwhelming experience, with teachers and students of the Department, all dressed uniformly in Goan flowery print and accessories, to display unity and synchronize with the Goan culture as well. The event was conceptualised and coordinated by Assistant Professor Mr. Agnelo Dias. The programme was anchored by Nathania D’Costa and by Astha Modak.
