On 6, 2023, the Computer Science and Mathematics discipline students of Carmel College of Arts, Science, and Commerce for Women were invited to an open day cum exhibition at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, Vasco-Goa. The open house was organised as a part of the 20-year celebration of their campus. Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technology, Dr. Solley Thomas, accompanied the students.

It was a one-day event with exhibitions from various departments of the institution. The first session attended by the students was in the Department of Computer Science on Game Development, which included the topics of Game Engines and their importance. There was a game developed by the students of BITS, followed by presentations on AR & VR, along with an introduction to cybersecurity. A demonstration of a prototype of the Rubber Ducky Virus was shown. Students also attended some of the presentations presented by PhD scholars.

The students visited the exhibitions conducted by the different departments, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Biological Sciences, physics, etc. At the Department of Biology, they were introduced to different systems of water sanitation and faecal sludge management, followed by various other topics on bio-bandages, plastic disposal, GM crops, and topics related to cancer. At the Department of Mathematics, students stumbled upon some interesting facts on the structure of a honeycomb and the most efficient structure, the hexagon, at an angle of 53.47 degrees. They played games of crossword, sudoku, tower of Hanoi, 27 card trick and the game of Nim. The Department of Computer Science was spectacular with Senses Smartboards, hardware component displays, old and revised hubs, audio mixers, and artworks made of e-waste with a technology overload.

On the whole, the students learned a lot about various topics, encompassing a multitude of topics of varied interest. It was a wonderful experience.
