ABOUT THE FIELD
The Food Industry is a sector that will always stay relevant. Food technology is the application of scientific knowledge to the process of food production, preservation, packaging, and distribution.
Food Technology involves the use of technology to improve food safety and quality and to create new food products.
Food scientists and technologists are versatile, interdisciplinary, and collaborative practitioners in a profession at the crossroads of scientific and technological developments.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Postgraduate (Degree) Department of Food Technology, set up in 2017, endeavours to develop professionals skilled at advancing the science of food.
The Master of Science (Food Technology) programme is designed per our motto and is affiliated with Goa University.

Department Objectives
- To provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical abilities required to work in the food industry, research centres, and food-related national and international organizations.
- To contribute to a healthier population by imparting education and understanding of nutritional science.
- To develop confident and competent individuals, able to adapt to the changing fabric of society through their professional expertise and personal traits.
ELIGIBILITY
The Programme is Co-ed, i.e., both male and female students are eligible.
To be eligible for the M.Sc. in Food Technology program, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a B.Sc. degree in Food Technology/Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Chemistry/Zoology/Botany/Life Sciences/Bio-sciences or an allied subject (Home Science, Agricultural Sciences) with a minimum of 50% marks.
- Have graduated from a recognized university.
- Clear the Goa University Admission Ranking Test (GU-ART).
GU-ART is held in three rounds. If a student misses the first round, they can apply for the subsequent rounds.
