Department of Zoology in collaboration with Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) organized an Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition on “Wild India: A Journey Through Wildlife, Habitats & Conservation” to commemorate National Wildlife Week 2026 on 6th October 2026. A total of six teams across colleges in Goa participated in the event. A Preliminary round was conducted following which four teams where selected for the on-stage round. The on-stage quiz composed for 5 rounds. Ms. Karen Braganza, Faculty, Department of Zoology hosted the quiz. Ms. Andrea D’Souza, Faculty, Department of Zoology spoke on the relevance of the event. Ms. Karuna Pagi, Field Researcher, WTI showcased a documentary on the conservation of whale shark.
The winners of the Inter-Collegiate quiz competition were Ponda Education Society’s Shri. Ravi S. Naik College of Arts & Science, Ponda and runner ups were Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Gogol- Goa. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners. Prizes were also awarded to the participants. Prizes were handed over by Principal Dr. Aldina Braganza and Faculty member Ms. Vinita D’Sa. The students of Club Animalia volunteered for the event.
The event aimed to create awareness on India’s wildlife, trade and conservation efforts. A life sized Whale Shark model and posters on Whale shark conservation were also displayed on campus.
