Title of the Activity Alumixia Session 3: Journey from a Student to a Professional
Academic Year AY 25-26
Date of Report 26th September 2025

Activity Overview

The PG Department of Food Technology (PGFT) conducted a one-hour talk combined with a Q&A session for the Part I and II MSc students on 26th September 2025 at 3.15 pm. Dr Maria Cordeiro, faculty of the PGFT, created the lecture series ‘AluMixia’ wherein alumni working in different areas related to food technology are invited to share their experience.

Mr Shreyash Fateparkar (student of MSc II) welcomed the gathering and introduced the Alumni, Ms Tanaya Pednekar, followed by a prayer by Ms Karina Naik. Mr Tanaya, alumna of batch 2021-2023, had an interactive session, and the students asked their questions at the end of her talk. She mentioned that the knowledge and skills obtained during the two-year MSc programme helped her survive in the industry. She described her experience as an intern and her responsibilities in her present job. Ms Resha Naik gave the vote of thanks at the end of the session.

This session was essential for the students to understand the prerequisites when transitioning from student to the corporate world. Dr Cordeiro intends to have more of such sessions, taking into consideration the academic needs and requirements of the industry. This will also ensure that the alumni can share their experience and thereby continue to be associated with PGFT and Carmel College.
