Activity Overview

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem – Goa, in collaboration with VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao – Goa, successfully organized a focused awareness programme under Project IPRisma on 3rd September 2025 at the College Auditorium.

The event aimed to enhance understanding of Intellectual Property Rights among students and faculty. A total of 60 participants attended the programme, reflecting strong engagement and interest in the subject.

Sessions Conducted:

  1. Session 1: Unfolding Innovation: An Overview of Patents, Trademarks & Industrial Designs
    • Resource Person: Mr. S.N. Inavalli
    • The session provided practical insights into innovation, protection of creative ideas, and legal safeguards available under patents, trademarks, and design law.
  2. Session 2: Creative Works & Heritage Marks: Understanding Copyright and Geographical Indications
    • Resource Person: Dr. Shruti Nadkarni
    • The discussion highlighted the significance of copyright in protecting literary and artistic works, along with the role of Geographical Indications in safeguarding community-based heritage products.

Dr. Celia Braganza coordinated the event. The sessions were highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions and raising queries on practical aspects of IPR. The programme succeeded in spreading awareness about the relevance of IPR in academic, professional, and entrepreneurial contexts. The awareness programme under Project IPRisma proved to be a valuable platform for sensitising staff and students towards the importance of intellectual property in fostering creativity, protecting innovation, and promoting economic growth.
