The Department of Botany, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem – Goa, organized an interactive alumni session for the First Year B.Sc. Botany Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) students on 9th August 2025 at 12.30 pm.

This session aimed to bridge the gap between past and present students, offering valuable insights into academic progression and career opportunities in the field of Botany and allied sciences.

Three distinguished alumni from the Batch of 2024-2025 were invited for the interaction:

  • Ms. Minaz Kundgol – Pursuing Master of Science in Botany, Goa University
  • Ms. Neha Sharma – Pursuing Master of Science in Botany, Goa University
  • Ms. Priyanka Madiwalkar – Pursuing Master of Science in Food Technology, Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women (PG), Nuvem

The alumni shared their academic journeys, experiences during postgraduate studies, and the transition from undergraduate life to higher education. They emphasized the importance of foundational knowledge in Botany, research-oriented thinking, and interdisciplinary learning.

During the interaction, students engaged in discussion about subject choices, entrance exams, internships, and career pathways. The alumni also addressed queries related to coping with academic challenges, managing time effectively, and balancing co-curricular activities with studies.

Overall, the session was very informative and inspiring, leaving the students motivated to pursue their academic goals with renewed enthusiasm. It also helped in strengthening the bond between the department and its alumni.
