As part of the lecture series Classroom to Career, a guest lecture was conducted on 7th August 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The session was conducted by Ms. Leontia Fernandes, a lecturer from Bath Spa University, UAE, and an alumna from the Department of Psychology. The lecture aimed at providing students with practical career guidance and a global perspective on psychology.
Ms. Fernandes shared her professional journey in psychology and gave valuable insights on career preparation and opportunities in the field. She spoke about creating effective CVs, preparing for interviews, and the role of online hiring. She also discussed adapting to multicultural workplaces, the scope of psychology in the UAE, licensing requirements, teaching opportunities, and the benefits of pursuing higher studies such as a PhD.
The session was interactive, with students asking questions about working abroad and career planning. Ms. Fernandes’ practical tips and personal experiences inspired the audience and gave them a clearer understanding of opportunities in the field. The Psychology Department expressed its gratitude to Ms. Leontia Fernandes for sharing her expertise and inspiring the students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by student Maizel Carvalho on behalf of the department.
A total of 22 students of TYBA Psychology attended the talk.
