The Department of Psychology, in collaboration with Abhivyakti, the cultural club of the Department of Konkani, participated in an inter-collegiate competition organized by Anyay Rahit Zindagi (ARZ) on the theme “Strengthening Communities, Preventing Trafficking”. The event was held on 30th July 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall, Sanskruti Bhavan, Panjim.
As part of the competition, students, under the guidance of Mr. Vishwapratap Pawar, Assistant Professor, Department of Konkani, presented a compelling street play titled “Shhhhhh…Desh Needla”, which powerfully depicted the harsh realities of human trafficking. The impactful performance, delivered within a 10-minute time frame, earned first place, with judges commending the team for their ability to engage the audience emotionally and meaningfully.
In a parallel initiative under the same competition, students led a clothes collection drive at Carmel College from 14th to 26th July 2025, guided by Ms. Faye Pinto, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology. The drive successfully gathered 672 kilograms of clothes, which were donated to the POTI Project to support ARZ’s upcycling efforts for the rehabilitation of survivors of trafficking. This initiative also secured first place, with judges praising not only the impressive volume of the collection but also the students’ thoughtful engagement with ARZ’s mission, reflecting a strong sense of purpose and social responsibility.
Together, both activities highlighted the students’ creative expression and civic commitment, showcasing how education, empathy, and action can come together to promote meaningful community change.
