The Dalgado Konkani Akademi [DKA] in collaboration with the Konkani department of Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Nuvem Goa, organized a Konkani book release ceremony for Vozram -Thikam , authored by Dr. Pandurang Phaldessai, alongside a poetry recitation competition at Carmel College Nuvem.
The Chief guest for the programme was Tomazinho Cardozo, former Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly and former President of DKA. Also present on the dais were the author Dr. Pandurang Phaldessai, Principal Dr. Aldina Braganza e Gomes, Head of the Konkani Department Queenie Viegas, DKA President Celso Fernandes, Vice President William Fernandes, Secretary Fr.Myron J.Barreto, and treasurer Afonso Braganza.
The event commenced with the Poetry Recitation Competition,where students showcased their eloquence and appreciation for Romi Konkani literature by reciting poems authored by various Konkani poets. The first three prizes were won by Swincy Vania Vaz, Simran Sharad Naik and Joelle Emelia Miranda and consolation prizes were awarded to Valeska Pereira and Achal Zond.
Vozram-Thikam – a collection of 260 short poems known as Kovnam, was officially released by Tomazinho Cardozo. DKA President Celso appreciated the participating students for their confident and fluent recitations and urged them to continue their love for Romi Konkani. Author Dr. Pandurang Phaldessai thanked DKA for publishing his first book in Romi Konkani. The programme was ably compered by Nidhi Naik.
