The Department of Botany celebrated Vanamahotsav – the Festival of Forests – on 4th July 2025. The aim of the celebration was to create awareness among the students about the importance of forests and highlight the vital role trees play in maintaining the ecological balance and ensuring environmental sustainability.
The event commenced with an enlightening talk by Dr. Divakar Mesta, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany. He addressed the students on the history and significance of Vanamahotsav. His talk emphasized how this annual celebration inspires conservation efforts across the country. Following the talk, a tree was planted in the Botanical Garden, to commemorate the occasion.
In a special initiative under the banner of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign, plant saplings were distributed to the students to encourage personal involvement in tree planting and care. The celebration witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 48 students.
Overall, Vanamahotsav 2025 was a great success in fostering environmental consciousness, promoting tree plantation and inspiring youth to take an active role in protecting the environment.
