Integrated farming system and eco-friendly practices enhance farm productivity and ensure sustainability reducing external inputs like synthetic fertilizers. Various aspects of integrated farming were explained to the students followed by demonstration of techniques of composting, vermicomposting, preparation of potting mix, and cultivation of vegetables. The steps involved in preparing compost using a Khamba composter were shown to the students and tips given for its optimum functioning. The students were then given a firsthand experience of how to manage vermicomposting pits ensuring proper moisture and temperature conditions for optimal earthworm activity to obtain vermicompost. This was followed by preparation of potting mix with appropriate ratios and combinations of ingredients suitable for growing various types of plants in containers, a crucial aspect of urban and small-scale farming. Students were then shown the steps in cultivating vegetables in the open field.

The field study trip to RasRaj Goa Farms was a valuable learning experience that gave students practical skills that can be applied in organic farming, gardening, and ecological conservation, enhancing their understanding of the relationship between agriculture and the environment.
