The Chemistry Department of Carmel College organized an industrial visit to Lupin Pharma Pvt. Ltd., Verna-Goa on March 6, 2025, at 3:00 PM for 21 TYBSc Chemistry students and 3 faculty members. The visit was coordinated by Ms. Sneha Naik, Faculty, Chemistry department, with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to industrial processes, quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) protocols, and real-world applications of their academic knowledge.
The visit began with a brief introduction to the company’s operations. The students were taken around the external premises of the plant; however, access to laboratories, research and development (R&D) units, and manufacturing sections was not provided. An expert from the company, Mr. Patil conducted a session introducing students to the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) processes in various departments, explaining their significance in maintaining pharmaceutical standards and regulatory compliance. As part of this session, students were shown important analytical instruments used in QC, such as Gas Chromatography (GC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). This provided them with an understanding of the techniques used for quality testing and validation in the pharmaceutical industry.
The introduction to QA and QC processes, along with the demonstration of analytical instruments, was insightful and provided a glimpse into industry practices. We appreciate Lupin Pharmaceuticals’ willingness to host our students and look forward to future collaborations that strengthen industry-academia ties and offer an enriched learning experience.
