On February 11, 2025, the Chemsparx club of Department of Chemistry hosted an Elocution Competition on the theme ‘Dress-up like a Women Scientist’ to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The event was meticulously organized and coordinated by Ms. Priyanka Naik and Ms. Tanisha Costa, whose efforts ensured a seamless and successful execution.

This inspiring event brought together students and faculty members and a distinguished guest judge to celebrate the remarkable contributions of women in the field of science. The competition was graced by the presence of Dr. Maria Cordeiro, a renowned biotechnologist from the Postgraduate department of Carmel college, who served as the judge for the event. Her expertise and insights added depth and value to the competition.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 13 students, who impressively dressed up as their favourite women scientists and delivered captivating speeches about their lives, achievements, and groundbreaking discoveries. The audience, comprising around 60 students and staff members, was thoroughly engaged and inspired by the participants passion and knowledge.

The occasion also served as a platform to felicitate the winning team of Chemscope 2025 and the participants, Ms. Danya Ainkar and Ms. Valanka D’Silva, who secured the third place in the Annual ACT Quiz Competition held at SCS, Goa university on 4th February 2025. Our principal, Dr. Sr. Maria Lizanne A.C. graced the occasion and presented the awards, acknowledging the students outstanding achievements.

Overall, the Elocution Competition was a resounding success, fostering a sense of community, promoting awareness about women’s contributions to science, and inspiring the next generation of women scientists.
