Dr. Brian Mendonca was invited by the Department of English of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa to be the external expert for the academic audit of the Department on 17 August 2026.
Along with two other experts he listened to a PPT about the Department covering two years, viz. 2024-2026. He took a look at the files, the department records, the achievements, and the best practices.
He suggested that research possibilities could be explored by migrating to emerging fields like digital and medical humanities – in both of which he has published papers.
Collaborations with other departments in the college like History and Social Sciences may give an edge to their activities and research.
Brian was happy to see his first book ‘Last Bus to Vasco: Poems from Goa’ sitting on the shelf in a cupboard in their department library.
Brian was a student of the same college and was impressed with how it has grown.
