The Department of Psychology organized an educational field visit to Chaitanya Institute of Mental Health, Thivim, and the Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, as part of the Counselling Psychology course to provide students with experiential learning beyond the classroom. At Chaitanya Institute, students gained insight into community-based mental health rehabilitation by observing vocational training, therapeutic interventions, and the multidisciplinary approach adopted to support recovery, independence, and social inclusion for individuals with mental illness. The visit to the Museum of Goa complemented this experience by encouraging students to explore how contemporary art reflects Goa’s history, culture, society, and environment while serving as a medium for emotional expression, creativity, self-awareness, and social commentary. Together, the visits enhanced students’ understanding of holistic mental health care and the interconnected roles of rehabilitation, culture, and art in promoting psychological well-being.
