Students and staff of the Department of English of Carmel College for Women, Nuvem, Goa visited the Home for the Aged, run by the Cluny Sisters at Nagoa, Verna on 4 August 2026. This was an activity to promote service learning among the students. The visit was made possible by Sr. Threcy. The group was welcomed by Sr. Claudia who invited them to pray at the chapel in the premises. The group said the litany to the foundress of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny, Blessed Anne-Marie Javouhey.

After this the students met the inmates of the home. They interacted with each of the 40 senior ladies- one of them aged 102 years – and brought a smile to their faces. They sang action songs in Konkani and English, hymns, and Konkani dulpods. Dr. Glenis Mendonca sang songs by Lorna which had the elders tapping their feet. Students held the hands of the aged and swayed to the music. As they left the students asked for their blessings. A snack was brought for the seniors which would be served at tea-time since they had just eaten their porridge.
