The Department of Economics organised the Economics Research Discussion Forum on 10th July 2026 at UGCR2 to enhance students’ analytical and critical thinking skills through research-based presentations on unemployment. The discussion focused on the theme “Unravelling Goa’s Unemployment Puzzle: The Reason Behind India’s Highest Unemployment Rate.” Students presented on various aspects of unemployment, including its causes, the unemployment scenario in Goa, private sector downsizing, and employment challenges faced by educated women. The forum concluded with an interactive discussion that encouraged participants to analyse labour market issues and propose practical policy solutions. A total of 21 participants (17 students and 4 staff members) attended the programme, making it an engaging and insightful academic activity.
