The Department of Economics and EcoVista Club of Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem-Goa organized “Demography Decoded – A Quiz on World Population” on 11 July 2026 to commemorate World Population Day. The event was conducted offline in UGCR5 under the theme “Realising Hopes & Aspirations of Young People for a Sustainable Future.”
The quiz aimed to raise awareness about global population issues, including demographic trends, youth, health, sustainability, and government initiatives, while enhancing students’ analytical and critical thinking skills. It consisted of a preliminary written round followed by a multimedia-based final round, with the top eight participants advancing to the finals. The quiz was conducted by Ms. Vardhana Dessai, Assistant Professor in Economics.
A total of 26 participants took part in the event. The winners were:
- 1st Place: Ms. Durva Desai (FYBA)
- 2nd Place: Ms. Karen Dourado
- 3rd Place: Ms. Mackenzy Travasso
The activity successfully enhanced students’ understanding of population-related challenges and strengthened their critical thinking through an engaging and competitive learning experience.
