The Research and Development Cell (RDC) of Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, has been recognised as one of the Top Three Research and Development Cells in the State of Goa for its outstanding research activities and best practices during the academic year 2025–2026.
The award was presented on 26th June 2026 during the RDC Coordinators’ Meet and Orientation Programme held at the Directorate of Art & Culture, Panaji. The recognition was given by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Goa, after evaluating the performance of 56 higher educational institutions across the state.
The assessment covered several important aspects, including the development of a strong research ecosystem, capacity building programmes, research publications, scholarly contributions, research output, funded projects, grants, consultancy, innovation, collaborations, outreach activities, research networking, future vision, and the overall presentation of the institution’s research initiatives.
The award was received on behalf of Carmel College by Dr. Manjunath Nayak, Coordinator of the Research and Development Cell.
The award was presented by Prof. D. N. Rao, a former scientist at Indian Institute of Science, who is currently serving as the C. V. Raman Research Chair at the Directorate of Higher Education, Goa, under the Goa State Higher Education Council. Also present were Prof. Majik, Prof. Tilvi, and Prof. Marchon, who are associated with the Research, Development and Innovation division of the Goa State Higher Education Council.
This recognition reflects Carmel College’s continued commitment to promoting a strong culture of research and innovation among its faculty and students. The college has consistently encouraged quality research, interdisciplinary collaborations, community outreach, and capacity-building initiatives, contributing significantly to the advancement of higher education in Goa.
The management, Principal, faculty members, and staff of Carmel College congratulated the Research and Development Cell on this prestigious achievement and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening research excellence and innovation in the years ahead.
