Activity Overview:
Students of the Postgraduate Department of Psychology organized a self-care session for the staff of Serena Palliative Care on Art therapy as a toll for mental wellbeing on 18th December 2025. The session aimed to utilize creative expression to support emotional regulation, stress reduction, and psychological resilience
The session began with a brief introduction to art therapy, emphasizing that artistic skill is not required and that the focus is on the process rather than the outcome. A short grounding exercise involving deep breathing was conducted to help participants relax and become present.
Participants were guided through creative expression exercise, such as:
- Emotion-based drawing using colors and shapes
- Mandala creation for stress regulation
Participants were encouraged to work independently, reflect inwardly, and express thoughts or emotions nonverbally through art.
The session concluded with a discussion on integrating art-based practices into daily self-care routines and professional settings. Participants were provided with simple art therapy exercises that could be practiced independently or adapted for patient care.
