A half-day workshop on ‘Innovation Prototype Validation – Converting Innovation into a Startup’ was conducted for the final year undergraduate students of Commerce and Economics at Carmel College on 27th July, 2025. The workshop organized by the Department of Economics was held from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm with the objective of creating awareness among students about the process of validating innovative ideas and transforming them into viable startup ventures.
The workshop featured two eminent resource persons:
- Mr. Cyril Dsouza, Assistant Director, Trade Promotion, World Trade Centre, who spoke on the importance of validating prototypes, understanding market needs, and aligning innovations with entrepreneurial opportunities. The practical examples he shared made the interactive session interesting for the participants.
- Ms. Trapti Shinde, Founder and CEO – Treleva Technologies LLP (Pune), shared her entrepreneurial journey and practical insights on product development and startup building. Treleva Technologies LLP, founded in 2020, operates in the information technology domain, focusing on computer systems design, software development, and IT consulting solutions and supports digital solutions for clients across industries. Ms. Shinde encouraged the participants to develop keen interest in entrepreneurship and informed the students about training and skill development opportunities in sales and marketing at Treleva Technologies.
The session was highly interactive, with students participating in discussions and gaining clarity on how innovative ideas can be systematically validated before entering the market. The workshop concluded with a Q&A session, where students posed queries about entrepreneurship, startup ideation, and government funding support for budding innovators. The workshop motivated students to explore entrepreneurship as a career path.
