Objectives of the Activity:
- To promote self-awareness and mindfulness through creative activities.
- To encourage emotional expression using art as a medium.
Activity Overview:
The Post Graduate Department of Psychology organized an enriching and experiential session titled “Art of Presence: Exploring Self and Expression” on 12th February 2026 at the College Auditorium. The session aimed at integrating psychology and fine arts to help participants understand the concept of presence, self-awareness, and creative expression.
The interdisciplinary collaboration between Psychology and Fine Arts provided students with a unique opportunity to explore emotional awareness and self-expression through artistic engagement.
Dr. Cindy Dsilva, conducted the workshop on The Circle of Calm: Finding Flow Through Mandala Art, the session aimed to promote mindfulness, relaxation, and stress reduction through structured creative expression. It sought to enhance concentration and emotional awareness while providing a safe space for self-reflection. The workshop also encouraged creativity, patience, and confidence, introducing mandala art as a therapeutic tool for overall well-being.
Mr. Sagar Gaude with the final year students of Goa College of Fine art provided insights into artistic expression as a powerful tool for communication beyond words. The session, Venting in Colour: Transforming Emotional Weight into Visual Form focused on interactive art-based activities, he guided students in expressing thoughts and emotions visually. Participants engaged in creative exercises that encouraged spontaneity and reflection.
Outcomes of the Activity:
- Students gained deeper insight into their emotions, thoughts, and patterns of self-expression.
- The concept of presence helped students understand the importance of living in the moment.
