Objective(s) of the Activity:
- To promote scientific temper and create awareness among students about the significance of science, particularly in the field of Botany.
- To explore the creativity of students through competitions.
Activity Overview:
The Department of Botany celebrated National Science Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty. The programme aimed to promote scientific awareness, creativity and environmental responsibility among students
The celebration featured an engaging exhibition that included creative floral art displays prepared by students, highlighting their aesthetic skills and knowledge of plant materials, as well as a display of various scientific laboratory instruments that provided practical insights into scientific tools and techniques. A plant sale was also organized to promote greenery and sustainable living, offering a variety of ornamental and vegetable plants, which received an excellent response from students and staff.
Two competitions were conducted to foster creativity and environmental consciousness among students. The Painting Competition titled “Blooming Nature” (Art with Plant Imprints) received a total of 17 entries, wherein participants displayed remarkable creativity by using leaves, flowers, and other plant parts to create unique artistic impressions. The Digital Poster Competition on the theme “Save Soil, Save the Future” received 8 entries and encouraged students to express their concern for soil conservation through digital media, with the submissions reflecting awareness, innovation, and strong environmental messages.
The programme concluded with the announcement of winners and prize distribution. The combination of scientific displays, artistic expression, and environmental awareness activities made the event both educational and inspiring. The programme effectively fostered scientific curiosity, creativity and responsibility towards nature among students.
Outcomes of the Activity:
- The activities helped nurture scientific temper among the students and develop a better understanding of the importance of Science and Botany in everyday life.
- Students actively participated in the events, enhancing their confidence and enthusiasm towards scientific and creative activities.
